How to Get Your Business Website on Google

Building a website is only half the job — if Google doesn't know it exists, nobody will find it. The good news: getting on Google is straightforward when you do a few specific things. Here's the plain-English version.

Step 1: Make sure Google can find your site

Google discovers pages by crawling links and reading your sitemap — a file that lists your pages. Every site should have one, plus a robots file that tells search engines they're welcome. If those are missing, indexing is slow and unreliable.

Step 2: Set up Google Search Console

Search Console is Google's free dashboard for site owners. You verify you own the site, submit your sitemap, and Google starts reporting which searches you appear for. It's the single most important tool for getting and staying indexed — and it's where you'd request indexing for a new page.

Step 3: Give Google a reason to rank you

  • Clear page titles and descriptions that match what people search
  • Real, useful content on each page — not thin filler
  • Fast load times and a mobile-friendly layout
  • A Google Business Profile if you serve a local area
  • A few links from other sites to build trust

Step 4: Be patient (a little)

A brand-new site can take days to get indexed and weeks to months to rank well, because Google earns trust in a domain over time. Doing the basics right from day one shortens that curve.

Skip the setup entirely

Every LegionRank site ships with sitemaps, clean metadata, fast performance, and automatic Google Search Console setup built in — so you're indexed and tracked from day one without touching any of it. Getting on Google stops being a project and just happens.
