Why Isn't My Website Showing Up on Google?

You built a website, but searching for it turns up nothing. Frustrating — and almost always caused by one of a handful of fixable issues. Here's how to figure out which one is yours.

It might just be too new

Google takes time to discover and trust a new site — often days to get indexed and weeks to rank. If your site went live recently, patience plus the steps below is usually the answer.

Google might be blocked from indexing it

A surprising number of sites accidentally tell Google to stay away — a leftover "noindex" tag or a robots file blocking crawlers, often left on from when the site was being built. If Google is blocked, no amount of waiting will help until it's removed.

You might be searching the wrong way

  • Search for your exact domain (yoursite.com) — if that shows up, you're indexed
  • Ranking for your business name is easy; ranking for competitive terms is hard
  • Being indexed and ranking on page one are two different things

There may be nothing for Google to rank

If your pages are thin — a logo and a phone number — Google has little reason to show them. Real, useful content on each page is what earns rankings for the terms your customers actually search.

How to check for sure

Google Search Console will tell you exactly what's happening: whether your pages are indexed, whether crawling is blocked, and which searches you appear for. It removes the guesswork.

The managed way

LegionRank builds every site to be indexable from the start — correct robots and sitemap, clean metadata, and automatic Search Console setup — and monitors search performance continuously, so "why isn't my site on Google?" isn't a question you have to ask.
